Swearingen - Mary Price

Source: Crawfordsville Star April 12, 1883 p 5

After a brief illness, Mrs. Mary Swearingen died at her home one mile north of Yountsville March 15, 1883. She was in the 29th year of her age. In the early morn of life she united with the ME Church, lived an exemplary life and died in full faith. She leave a kind husband, two little children and a large circle of friends to mourn her death.

Loved and respected by her family and friends, her sudden death has left a vacant place in the home that cannot be filled. Pneumonia soon did its work; she suffered much but endured all with patience and calm christian resignance, telling her friends if she did not receover to do the very best they could for her little children. Naturally of a quiet, retiring disposition, she loved solitude, the flowers, the song of the birds, the mossy verdure, the soft music of the rippling brook, better than the vain follies and fashions of this world. The silver cord of life is broken and we will meet her in the social walks of life no more. She will often be missed in this community, but there is joy in the reflection that her pure spirit has gone to reign with her sainted mother in the society of angels. Rev. Aaron Wood officiated at the funeral. - transcribed by kbz
